What is Touryteller?
Touryteller is a platform for gamified urban routes. It combines storytelling, geolocation and play to turn every city walk into an interactive adventure. Available as an app for iOS and Android.
How does a gamified route work?
A gamified route is a city walk with geolocated checkpoints. At each point a challenge awaits (quiz, riddle, photo or mini-game) that you must complete to unlock the next stage and earn points.
Do I need internet during the route?
You need a connection to download the route initially and verify checkpoints by GPS. Once downloaded, much of the content is available offline. We recommend keeping mobile data active for the best experience.
Is it free for travellers?
Yes. Downloading the app and accessing free routes is at no cost. Some creators may offer premium routes with exclusive content at an accessible price.
How can I create my own gamified route?
Download the app, register as a creator and use our route editor. You can add checkpoints on the map, design challenges and quizzes, write narrative and publish your route in minutes. No technical knowledge required.
Do I need to be a licensed guide to create routes?
No. Anyone passionate about their city can create routes on Touryteller. Local historians, travel bloggers, teachers, students or simply neighbourhood lovers: all are welcome.
Can I monetise my routes?
Yes. Creators can set a price for their premium routes and earn revenue from every explorer who completes them. Touryteller handles payments and provides you with detailed analytics.
Where is Touryteller available?
We are currently launching in Barcelona with the first beta tester routes, and rolling out across European cities including Krakow. Coming soon to Madrid, Valencia, Seville and more. If you want to be among the first creators in your city, sign up as a creator.
